This recipe is perfect if you are running short on time in the morning. Soak and mix your ingredients the night before so that in the morning you can just grab and go. Also, by soaking your oats you will help break down the phytic acid, an anti-nutrient which prohibits our bodies from absorbing all of the available vitamins in grains. Many people are having problems with grains these days, such as gluten intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, etc. The soaking process helps break down these enzyme inhibitors which makes grains easier to digest and the vitamins more available to the body.

PrintSoaked Oats & Jam
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of oats
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1/2 cup plant based or raw milk
- 4–5 strawberries
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- pinch of cardamom
- 1 tbsp honey, pure maple syrup or stevia
Instructions
- The night before, pour the milk over your oats & chia seeds in a bowl (the chia adds a more gel like consistency)
- In a separate bowl, mash your berries with a fork
- Add the spices to your berry bowl and mix
- Then, add your berry mixture (leaving a little extra to coat the top) to your oats bowl and blend
- Add the mixture to your small glass mason jar and top the little extra jam on top of your finished oats
- Leave your covered jar in the fridge overnight
- In the morning just grab and go! If you like a more moist consistency, add more milk in the morning & if it’s a colder morning or you prefer warmer food, you can always warm it up on the stove with a little extra milk or water.
