Carne Guisada

Carne guisada is a mexican beef stew that is not only incredibly delicious but also very easy to make. It’s a perfect blend of a few simple ingredients that come together with a rich and satiating sauce. My family devours and I’m sure yours will too!

carne guisada

We grew up eating venison carne guisada so I tend to cook this classic dish with venison. However, it is great with beef as well. Choose your favorite stew meat or switch it up each time. In my opinion, this carne guisada is best wrapped in a warm tortilla. It just melts in your mouth while the softness of the tortillas soak up the juices.

Health Benefits of Carne Guisada Tacos:

Since we love this dish with venison, I’m going to chat about the health benefits of venison for just a moment.

Venison: Venison is rich in B12 which helps with energy production, cell turnover, and helps prevent anemia. Deer meat is also high in zinc, strengthening the immune system and helping to prevent oxidative stress.

Cilantro: This herb is incredible at detoxing the body from heavy metals. It does this by binding to the metals, loosening them from tissues and helping to eliminate them. That’s pretty amazing for such a small herb! Cilantro is also a stress fighter because of its sedative properties!

To Make:

Brown stew meat in a large pot with oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper while cooking.
Add onions and continue to sauté until softened. Add tomatoes and sauté for a couple more minutes. Add flour, broth and cumin and continue to mix. Bring to a low boil then down to a simmer and continue to simmer on low until sauce thickens, about 1.5 hours. Spread stew over a warmed flour tortilla and top with lots of cilantro!
