Easy Homemade Italian Dressing

(Better Than Store-Bought + Made in Minutes)

Homemade dressing is one of those small kitchen things that just makes life feel better.

It’s fresher, cleaner, and in my opinion—so much more flavorful than anything from a bottle. I especially love this easy homemade Italian dressing because it’s bright, tangy, and made with simple pantry ingredients you probably already have.

And once you make it once, you’ll probably never go back to store-bought.

Ingredients

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Vinegar (red wine or white wine both work)
  • Lemon juice (for brightness)
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt + black pepper

Optional: a pinch of sugar or honey if you like it a little smoother

Method

Step 1:
Add all ingredients to a mason jar or small bowl.

Step 2:
Shake or whisk well until fully combined. That’s it.

If it separates while sitting, just give it another quick shake before serving—that’s totally normal.

Tips for best flavor

  • Use a good quality extra virgin olive oil—it really makes a difference.
  • Adjust the vinegar to your taste: more for tangy, less for mild.
  • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes before serving so the flavors blend together.
  • Always shake before pouring—simple dressings naturally separate.

How to use it

This dressing is perfect on:

  • Simple green salads
  • Cucumber + tomato salads
  • Pasta salads
  • Grilled vegetables
  • Even as a quick marinade

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: multiple salads

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp distilled vinegar (or red wine vinegar for a deeper flavor)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 large pinch of black pepper
  • 3 large pinches of salt (adjust to taste)

Optional: a tiny drizzle of honey or pinch of sugar if you like it slightly softer and less sharp

Instructions

Add all ingredients to a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake well until fully combined and creamy.

Store in the refrigerator for up to about 1 month. Just give it a good shake before each use, since the oil and vinegar will naturally separate over time.
