If you know me at all, you know I am a huge fan of matcha lattes. Actually, I’m a fan of most lattes…coffee lattes, turmeric latte, chai latte, they are all so delicious!
However, matcha in particular has become my daily go to for lattes. I use matcha powder which is simply ground up matcha tea leaves. These leaves contain EGCg polyphenols which are antioxidants found in plant based foods, herbs and spices. Polyphenols repair cell damage, are anti-inflammatory and have a positive impact on our gut bacteria (less bloating!) Matcha is naturally high in chlorophyll which detoxifies the body, improves digestion and manages proper body weight. Green tea leaves such as matcha contain an amino-acid called l-theanine which helps balance mood and has a calming effect on the body. As you can see matcha is full of so many health benefits and even a punch of caffeine! The caffeine in matcha is compared to about half a cup of black coffee. I love matcha lattes because they give me a little energy burst without the crash and dehydration that coffee ususally gives me.
You can find matcha powder at most grocery stores and online.
To make: boil some water and add to a mug with a tsp of matcha powder. Top with your favorite milk. Enjoy!
