“How do I eat clean and live a healthy life?”

It’s such a simple question. Yet, with so much information on the web, how do we decipher through it all?

Sometimes a simple question = a simple answer.

If I was to summarize some tips for clean eating, I’d say, avoid processed foods, move your body, rest when needed and drink clean water.

But, that’s too simple!

There are a lot of diets and fads, but at the end of the day, whole foods is what the body was designed to digest and learning to listen to your body may be easier than you think.

The problem is, our modern lifestyle is bombarded with toxins. We can’t entirely avoid them, but we can lower our intake and strengthen our immune system to better handle all kinds of stresses.

         DETOX

  • Start reading food labels so you can avoid additives & preservatives
  • Choose organic, if possible, especially with thin skinned produce
  • Avoid GMO’s (genetically modified foods, which are banned in many other countries)
  • Look for pasture raised chicken & grass fed and finished beef
  • Consider an herbal cleanse. I love these because you can add them into your diet
  • Choose natural cleaning products, candles, makeup, lotions and deodorant
  • Avoid non-stick cookware, bpa-laden plastics, tap water, and negative attitudes & relationships

        CHOOSE HEALTHY NUTRIENTS

  • Eat more fruits & veggies (try juicing, smoothies, or adding to a meal)
  • Keep a food diary, at least at first, to get on the right track
  • Eat plenty of healthy fats (coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, grass fed butter or ghee) and take a quality fish oil or fish egg supplement
  • Consider taking a vitamin and/or mineral supplement
  • Get a sufficient amount of vitamin D3-sunshine is the best!
  • Add probiotics or a gut support to your diet

        ADOPT A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Save

  • Aim for quality sleep (7-9 hours)
  • Mange your stress levels (relaxation techniques, etc)
  • Get active-and sweat! This is a great way to sweat out excess toxins
  • Go outside and enjoy nature, fresh air and sunshine
  • Find a community of like-minded people that encourage your healthy habits and goals

There are many ways to keep your body healthy; find what works for you and your specific needs.
