Air Fryer Fish & Chips

You don’t have to be from Canada or Europe to enjoy fish and chips. It’s golden color and crispy shell will make you wanting more! This air fryer fish and chips is not only easy to make, but my kids love it too, especially if they can dip in the tartar sauce. The breading won’t leave you feeling concerned; made with almond flour, eggs and a few spices. You can’t beat those ingredients!

Fish and chips takes me back to New Zealand. My local roommate took me out to a black sand beach one day to show some of the local wonders. One of the stops before stepping on the black sand was a fish and chips shop. It was so fun sitting on the dark sand, staring out into the water with our crispy fish and a milk shake. A memory I’ll never forget!

Health Benefits:

Wild caught cod is rich in B6, B12 and minerals which supports the nervous system and immune system. The Omega 3’s help with inflammation and cardiovascular health. Also a rich source of protein! Look for wild caught, if possible, as it is naturally higher in vitamins and minerals.

To Make Fish:
In a shallow bowl, mix the flour with the spices and salt
Place beaten eggs in another bowl
Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl
Pat fish dry with a paper towel
Dredge fish first in flower, then egg, finally with the breadcrumbs
When all the fish is completely covered, spray air fryer and fish with avocado oil
Place fish in a single layer in the air fryer
Air fry at 400F, turning or shaking bowl half way through, cook for a total of 10-12 minutes, should be golden brown
You know your fish is done when you insert a fork and it is flaky
Serve with fries and tartar sauce or slices of lemon

To Make the Fries:

Soak potatoes in a large bowl of water for 30 min
Pat dry, place in single layer (will need to do multiple batches) in air fryer
Air fry for 12 min at 380 degrees, shake fries half way through
They are complete when golden and crispy

Then, make the tartar sauce.

To Make Sauce:
Mix ingredients in a small bowl, serve with fish & chips!
